Caeda: Talys’s Bride

 Good offenses
 Some ally supporting options

Bride Caeda is identical to Spring Lucina in terms of almost everything, where Spring Lucina is a lesser Linde but not by much. She is a speedy blue mage with high RES and a decent ATK that can’t one shot anyone but enough for a ORKO. Her Weapon is Blessed Bouquet that buffs her allies within 2 spaces of her for +2 DEF and RES when she initiates an attack on a foe. Her Special is Iceberg that will output big numbers since it scales with her high RES. She is given Hone SPD on C but also she gets a new passives on A, Attack Res +2. From it’s name, it grants her +2 on ATK and RES and like similar skills, it is out valued by the other passives on this slot. Her support role is just an icing on top of her speedy mage class cake. She is not a full time support and will not take the job of Eirika or Ephraim but it’s nice to have a few tricks on her sleeves.

Lyn: Bride of the Plains

 Disables target's ability counterattack
 High SPD
 Squishy against physical units

Bride Lyn is an exceptional staff user that receives a brand new staff and a brand new passive that would add usefulness to the healer role. This weapon is not a legendary one so you can pass it to every staff user, this staff is Candlelight. Candlelight lays a debuffs to her foe after combat that disables it’s ability to retaliate further until it’s next action. This is very useful for putting her allies in a good position to attack an enemy safe from their counter attacks. But sometimes Bride Lyn might not be in a good condition to put this status on her target, this is where her new passive, Dazzling Staff, comes in. This passive suppresses enemy’s retaliation first thing after Bride Lyn does her attack like Windsweep but without a condition to meet. She can debuff every hero she initiates as long as the target doesn’t have Vantage or something a like. The other skills on her set are the typical skill of a healer.

Cordelia: Perfect Bride

Choices of support option for the team

Bride Cordelia is a bow type unit that kept her offensive stat the same from her original version but became squishier. Like the other Bride units, she is a support on top of her main role. She play around choosing between going offense so she can give defensive stuff to her allies or assist an ally instead to buff it’s offenses. If she chooses to attack an enemy, she can give allies within 2 spaces+2 DEF and RES from her Weapon’s passive, Cupid Arrow, and also heal adjacent allies for 7 HP from her Breath of Life passive on C. The other one is she can buff an ally for +3 ATK and SPD with her new Assist skill, Rally Attack Speed. This isn’t much compared to what Eirika or Ephraim can give to a unit but this is a niche to have in dire situation. And the last skill in her set is Escape Route, but IMO Wings of Mercy would work better with her other skills.

Charlotte doesn’t seems so special except for a tease of the possible next hero banner like what they did with Xander. Her stats are well balanced and with her good SPD and decent defenses, she can tank some hits greatly. She also get a brand new passive, Wind Boost, on A that gives her +6 SPD if her HP is more than 3 of the enemy. This is like Darting Blow but with a different condition. She could hit 41 SPD all by herself with a SPD boon.

Celica: Caring Princess

Ragnarok is comparable to Blade Tomes
One shots most top tier non-blue units
 Well-rounded role in battle
 Another red unit

Before anything, here’s a small gallery of my Celica blowing up some top tier heroes in Arena:

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Celica is another red lord unit among the already large count of red lord units. She will be competing with an already solid cast of red heroes for a spot on your team and everything will come down to what your team needs or what playstyle you want. She has her pros and cons, and she will differ from the other heroes. For instance, let’s say your current team is already using the best red mage, Tharja, and has a team built around her but you want some tricks in case you face a situation where your support will need to separate from Tharja, this is where you could consider using Celica. Celica can fire big numbers with her legendary weapon without the need of buffs. Ragnarok, the tome unique to only her, gives her +5 ATK and SPD when her HP is full but receives 5 damage after this no matter if she is initiating the attack or getting attacked. This means she gets more fire power, chance for a follow-up or denies foe for a second attack when her Ragnarok’s passive is active. It also works well with her good stats of 39/32/33/22/22 on neutral spread.

Her other skills are Blazing Light as Special, Spur Def on C and a new skill, Distant Def on A. Her Special should be changed since Rising Light and skills similar to it will proc Vantage. It does it’s damage before and outside of combat so the target will be entering the battle with low HP, the condition for Vantage to activate. Spur Def on the other hand is good enough to keep but can be changed to flex on what your team needs. I have to note that with the new seals we got, Spur Def on C and Spur Def on S will stack and is recommended to be combo’d since they are in-combat buffs. That would be a total of +6 DEF and it will save your allies sometimes. Last on her default set is Distant Def, this skill gives Celica +6 to both DEF and RES when attacked by a ranged enemy. With this, Celica on full HP with Ragnarok gets +5 ATK, +5 SPD, +6 DEF, and +6 RES which great for defending. This makes Celica a well-rounded hero, she can be built offensively or defensively or a balanced of both.

Here is my build for Celica:

18745041_10212270893241958_1293741419_o

This is an example of an offense build for Celica. It’s a glasscannon type with ATK boon and HP bane, and the addition of Life and Death. Death Blow can be a substitute on A so she won’t suffer that much on defenses. There’s a ton of possibilities. I’d be happy to hear yours.

Boey: Skillful Survivor

High DEF and Earth Boost (+6 DEF in combat
➤ Owl Tome!
➤ Similar to Robin (female) with a bit of difference

Boey is very similar to Robin (female) with just a small difference in their base stats. He has high DEF to deal with ninjas and archer and he also has Ignis as his Special, just like Robin (female). Because of this, we can say Boey’s and Robin’s (female) role in battle is similar with some small differences. Boey gets a new tome, Gronnowl. He gets buffs to all his combat stats for each ally who is beside him. For an ally, he gets +2; for 2 allies, he gets +4; for 3, he gets +6 ATK, SPD, DEF and RES during combat. This gives him a bit more durability but it isn’t enough to deal with top tier mages including Linde and fully buffed Reinhardt in Arena. He would still need Triangle Adept to deal with them and G Tomebreaker for Nino, just like Robin’s (female) build. This means that you have to sacrifice his 2 default passive skill, one being a new to the game. His A is Earth Boost that gives him +6 DEF when his HP is higher by 3 points compared to his foe. His other passive is Renewal for sustain.

Mae holds the blue version of an Owl Tome, Blárowl. It gives her some pros compared to other blue mages defensively but owl tomes can be harder to pull off if you are going for offense.

Mae also gets B Tome Exp. for leveling blue tome units faster. Not good if you want to do slow leveling for SP.

 Wrathful Staff
 Slow SPD

Finally, healers can get more useful with the addition of Wrathful Staff in the game. This skills removed the -50% damage penalty of healers, meaning, it is possible for them to do extra damage and help with cleaning up. This would also mean it is possible for them to chip more HP on their target while applying certain debuffs depending on what staff they are using. They can also use Absorb that has lifesteal. Genny’s ATK stat is high and will benefit in using Wrathful Staff, but she lacks SPD which means she will get doubled by most heroes in Arena. She has high RES and being colorless which means she can check mages safely.

Genny also gets a number of default healing skills she can choose from to what your team needs.

Elise can benefit more in using Wrathful Staff with Horse Emblem but it’s all up to you.

 Mediocre SPD

Distant Counter and Close Counter are the best skills in the game currently, and having it built-in passive to a weapon opens up more possibility for ways to adapt to the meta, this passive can be found in Ike’s Ragnel. He gets a brand new passive on his A skill slot called Heavy Blade that if Ike has higher ATK than his foe which he benefits well with his naturally high ATK stat. He also get Swordbreaker that fixes his match-up with other sword units (even the faster ones) as long as this sword unit isn’t equipped with Swordbreaker too.

Ike’s playstyle is very similar to Ryoma except he has slower SPD with the difference that Ike has to get sustain to keep going while Ryoma wants to get to critical HP to take advantage of his common set. He can learn Aether as Special and this would sustain him in battle by getting faster charges with Heavy Blade.

Soren’s SPD will have trouble exceeding the SPD of the current common mages but other than that, he can utilize this skill on them. World of Shadows Hero Review

World of Shadows banners brings new units to Heroes equipped with some new skills that offers the current meta a bit of something new. Some of the new skills can be treated as a way to balance out few of the currently must-have skills in the game like Vantage, Quick Riposte and many more. These new skills might work well with some of the builds of the current units we have but it is best hold onto them first, if you are not a whale, until the banner ends to know if we can get a lower rarity version of the unit to use as a Skill Inheritance fodder.

Alm is equipped with Windsweep that prevents his target from retaliating from his attacks if his SPD ≥ 1 compared to the opponent’s but in return, he can’t follow up his attack when he initates the combat. This suppresses skills and prevent them from being used to protect themselves from the attack like Counter, Close Counter, Vantage, Quick Riposte, Breakers, etc as long as the target is not a tome, staff or stone user. Alm can use this skill in different ways. One of which is to poke a target to bring it out of a skill’s activation range, e.g. Alm can attack head first a Hector and remove him from Armad’s HP range. Another use of this skill is for a safe clean up on an enemy with low HP, e.g. a Takumi with Vantage on critical HP won’t be counter-attacking first but instead die. Windsweep will work well with units how has heavy ATK and high SPD which is Alm lacks. This is fixable, he can be inherited with Darting Blow which gives him +6 SPD on his initiates or Fury or Life and Death but this will depend on Alm’s role on your team.

I rolled Alm in this banner and use him as my clean up unit. Here is my build for him:

 Firesweep bow
 Slow SPD

Faye owns a new bow that can be inherited by other bow users. This bow is Firesweep Bow. This bow, like every other bow, is effective against flying units but what makes it unique is that is prevents the person equipped with this bow and it’s target from making any form retaliation. To make things clear, here are some example situations:

Unit A and B is has the same range.
1) Unit A is equipped with Firesweep bow and is initiating an attack to Unit B. Units B can counterattack. Unit A can follow up it’s initial attack.
2) Unit A is equipped with Firesweep bow and is getting attack by Unit B. Unit A can’t counter attack. Unit N can follow up it’s initial attack.

Like Windsweep, this can be used in different ways and is good in some situation except that Firesweep bow doesn’t have the restriction to making a follow up to an attack as long as the user’s SPD is enough for it. This is the problem with Faye, she has a natural SPD of 21/25/28 which means even with Darting Blow, the highest SPD she can reach is 34 without any help. She would be needing support from her team made to make her a hard carry but she can pass her bow to someone else with better stats if she doesn’t fit your team.

Spring Xander boasts high DEF of 35 on neutral. He will be good for tanking and countering sword users. He is equipped with a huge Carrot Lance that has 13 Might and heals 4 HP if you initiate the attack on an enemy. This is a decent lance compared to the other lances in the game right now and it doesn’t necessarily need to be changed. His Assist is Swap which is good saving an ally out of an enemy’s sight and changing the aggro to Xander. Spring Xander also brings Fortify Def that gives allies adjacent to him +4 DEF buff. This set makes him a unit whose job is to bail out an ally out of a sword unit range and counter that enemy. You can improve Spring Xander’s role by giving him Triangle Adept on A and Swordbreaker on B to ensure a kill on every sword user that will touch him.

Spring Xander also holds Live for Honor which gives bonus 1.5x to badge earn on Training Tower, however, we still on have a clear purpose for farming badges so this Passive might be useless for now.

Green Egg, her weapon, is not that amazing

Spring Camilla is the first mage flier unit in Heroes. This makes her very desirable to get in this banner. Her default weapon is Green Egg with 11 Might and the same healing passive as Carrot Lance. This is a mediocre weapon compared to other Green Tomes we have. She is given an Assist skill, Rally Attack, instead of a Special. Her passives are Defiant SPD and Live for Bounty on A and B respectively. (Note: Live for Bounty has a typo in its description, it does not actually increase the number of badges, but rather the number of shards and crystals gained.) Her set looks unappealing but her true potential blooms with Skill Inheritance. You can give Spring Camilla Gronnblade which will benefit her so much if you’ll be having a unit with either Hone Flier or Fortify Flier. It is an instant minimum +8 to her damage and can possibly reach +18 damage with a single Hone Flier. This concept is the same as cavalry teams(horse emblem) except fliers have higher BST than cavalry units in exchange for their bow weakness which is better for Arena. This makes her a flying Nino that can snipe enemies anywhere without the bother of terrains and packs more nuking power. Now tell me that isn’t terrifying.

This version of Chrom is as unappealing as his normal version is, both in his default skill set and art. He has a Carrot Axe that is not different with Carrot Lance and  works like a lesser version of the Falchion, if you think about it. As Assist, they gave him Shove and for Passives, he gets 2 skills that is new to the game; Attack/Def+ and Axe Experience. Axe Experience gives additional 2x experience to every axe units in your team, this is good to shorten your trips in the Training Tower when maxing your axe hero. Attack/Def+ grants +2 to both ATK and DEF stat. This skill gives +4 stats compared to the normally +3 of the respective Passive A stat plus. This passive is efficient but in some cases the +3 stat is better. Attack/Def+ of Spring Chrom looks good for passing down to a different unit that needs it more but since he is a special event unit, you might not want to.

I have a feeling we will be getting more alternate version of Lucina on every special event. Aside from her art, Spring Lucina’s base stat alone is very appealing. Her base ATK is acceptable and her SPD is high that she can make her double on most units. Her weapon is Blue Egg which is a blue version of Green Egg. She has an Assist, Rally Speed, which is a nice niche. She is also equipped with Seal Res as Passive on B. Lastly, she is brings a new Passive skill that is introduced first with her named Swift Sparrow. This procs when you initiate combat and it’s effect is to buff your unit +4 to both ATK and SPD until the end of combat. Like Attack/Def+, Swift Sparrow buffs your unit for a total of +8 while the regular buff combat Passive A only gives +6. It is more efficient than the normal ones but again, on some situations +6 on a stat alone is better that just +4. With all of this combined, she can nuke most of her target. We can say she is a pseudo Linde but Linde is still the queen of blue tome.

Ninian is a new manakete dancer added to Heroes’ roster. Even though she is a dragon her BST (Base Stat Total) is low compared to the other manaketes. She is currently the third unit in this game who can enable another ally to move again with Dance/Sing skill. Now, players who want a team composition with a dancer/bard have an option between Azura, Olivia and Ninian.

Her weapon is Light Breath, if she initiates combat she can give +4 DEF and RES to her adjacent allies for added bulk to them. This will give you options as to whether you want to give an ally another chance to move or give them added survivability depending on the situation. If ever you find your Ninian cornered and low in HP, she can also escape danger with her passive Escape Route and teleport to an ally to safety even on the other side of the map. Finally, the last skill on her set is Fortify Dragons which buffs ally manaketes’ DEF and RES by 6 if they are adjacent to her at the start of the turn. Karel’s weapon is Wo Dao that gives +10 damage when he performs his Special. His Special is Reprisal which has a 2 charge cooldown that he can execute almost every battle granted that he do a follow up on his target. Think of him like Catria, who seems to always use her Special whenever she goes in battle. He is also packed with Defiant ATK that actives when he is below half HP that boost his ATK by 7. This synergizes well with his last passive, Desperation, that makes him do his follow up immediately after his first strike when he initiates combat below 75% HP. Making a cavalry team with Reinhardt would make a lot of sense because he has a wide AoE +4 SPD and ATK combat buff for his cavalry allies. Reinhardt is also one of the first two heroes to have a Brave Tome as weapon. A long range unit with a guaranteed double attack is always good. It helps the team soften up threats and secure kills. This also helps him charge his 5 charge cooldown nuking Special that can melt almost anybody. Last on his set is Vantage which makes him counter attack first on an engaging enemy if he is below 75% HP.This covers up for the penalty of having a Brave Weapon. Lachesis: Lionheart’s Sister

Lifesteal on her weapon for added survivability
2 choices for Special: Bigger heal or +4 DEF for the team
Ranged heal
Healer still doesn't have much value in the current state of the game

It seems they made her the perfect support for her brother, Eldigan. She has a range heal and a choice of 2 Specials she can pick from them depending on what your team needs. She works very similar to Sakura so there’s nothing much to say about her except that they gave her a weapon that recovers HP for half of the damage she dealt for added survivability. She suffers from the -50% damage penalty for healers, so it isn’t much.
