Ike – IT’S IKE! But I guess I overrated him to think he will place higher than Ryoma. He is immediately under Ryoma in ranking and I think it’s just right.

Xander: Paragon Knight

 Distant Counter built-in his Siegfried
 Very high DEF
Will have a problem with mages

We finally got a unit for Horse Emblem to get a Distant Counter passive built-in a weapon. Xander’s legendary weapon is named Siegfried. His stats excel on dealing physical units which narrows the use of his Siegfreid to bow units and staff. He gets Armored Blow on A that grants him additional DEF when initiating an attack on an enemy. His RES is low enough to get nuked by most commonly used mages we see in Arena, but this is workable by putting Vantage on his B and meeting the required conditions of it then kill his foe in one shot. He also gets Spur Def on C for support and Blazing Light for Special.

If you want to use Xander to deal with mages too, I would recommend that you build him around Vantage. Give him something to lower his HP to get to Vantage to proc, something like Fury. Xander can also benefit from using Bonfire because of his DEF.

Ike: Young Mercenary

 It's Ike!
 Distant counter built-in weapon
Heavy Blade charges his Special faster
Naturally high ATK and DEF stats
 Mediocre SPD

Distant Counter and Close Counter are the best skills in the game currently, and having it built-in passive to a weapon opens up more possibility for ways to adapt to the meta, this passive can be found in Ike’s Ragnel. He gets a brand new passive on his A skill slot called Heavy Blade that if Ike has higher ATK than his foe which he benefits well with his naturally high ATK stat. He also get Swordbreaker that fixes his match-up with other sword units (even the faster ones) as long as this sword unit isn’t equipped with Swordbreaker too.

Ike’s playstyle is very similar to Ryoma except he has slower SPD with the difference that Ike has to get sustain to keep going while Ryoma wants to get to critical HP to take advantage of his common set. He can learn Aether as Special and this would sustain him in battle by getting faster charges with Heavy Blade.

Soren: Shrewd Strategist

 Watersweep
➤ Balanced stats

Soren is equipped with a new passive skill called Watersweep which is the magical counterpart of Windsweep. This skill can prevent the target enemy that uses tomes, staffs or dragonstones from retaliating if the user’s SPD is higher than the target’s but it will also prevent the user from making any follow-up attack on its target. Soren’s SPD will have trouble exceeding the SPD of the current common mages but other than that, he can utilize this skill on them. Like Windsweep, this still is good to supress skills like Vantage, Quick Riposte, etc.

Mist: Helpful Sister

 High RES
 Miracle on Special
Spur Def Res grants buff for both DEF and RES
Will have trouble with melee enemy with her low SPD and DEF

Mist seems to be a product of IS trying to make a healer that is enticing to use. She is better than other healers but not good enough for the people wanting to use her. They gave her the best skills among the staff units and also gave her a new passive C, Spur Def Res. It is a Spur skill that gives your allies +3 DEF and +3 RES. That’s a total of 6 buff value compared to normal Spur skills that has 4.

Titania: Mighty Mercenary

 High SPD, DEF, RES
 Cavalry movement
New passive removes enemy's Special charge

Titania blusters high SPD, DEF and RES and will soar with a Horse Emblem setup. She will be an upgrade to your team if you had a Gunter or Frederick and switch them out for her. Titania gets a new passive B, Guard, that decrease enemy’s Special charge at the start of the combat. She virtually won’t be hit by any Special in combat as long as the enemy doesn’t double or her HP is above 80%. Her set makes her a good tank.

The Strongest Hero is Coming

Ike

I’m a big fan of Ike and this might look bias but seeing his skill set alone says OP no matter what. Even if they give him a trash SPD, like Hector, his new skill Heavy Sword and Swordbreaker can make up for it. The new skill, Heavy Sword, will charge up Aether faster which acts as a self regen.

skillset

I’m placing my bet that he will be #1 on the Top 10 Strongest Hero list. I’m looking forward to his release and hope I will get him soon.

Factor in determining the Strongest Heroes:
• Ranking in Tier Lists across the web
• Difficulty of reaching a unit’s full potential
• Effectiveness of unit’s full build in the meta
• Unique weapons and skills place a unit higher
• Different IV spread are not considered

Reinhardt – Horse Emblem has been doing great lately. When Reinhardt gets buffs from the cavalry support skills, on top of his unique brave tome, he can swipe 98% of every match-up. If he also gets support from a dancer, he covers a lot of ground from being a cavalry. He ruins a lot of arena runs, I’m sure.

Zephiel: The Liberator

 Big HP pool of 55
Great defense of 38 DEF and 24 RES
Wary Fighter makes up for slow SPD
Wary Fighter at 4★ for Skill Inheritance
Requires a lot of resources to bring his full potential

He is a great armored unit that can act like an Effie but as a sword user. His legendary weapon Eckesachs debuffs enemies within 2 cell range -4 DEF making them very vulnerable to him. He has Wary Fighter which makes up for his slow SPD. This prevents him and his attackers from making a follow-up attack as long as it’s within the skill’s required HP range. He also has this skill at 4★, making him a skill food for your other armored unit. He gets Reprisal as Special which grants bonus damage based on 30% of his missing HP; this is great since he has a big HP pool of 55. His other default Passive, Life and Death on A, is recommended to be changed since it doesn’t match Zephiel’s current role in battle. You can also give him Brave Sword and Death Blow to mirror an Effie build more.

World of Shadows Hero Review

World of Shadows banners brings new units to Heroes equipped with some new skills that offers the current meta a bit of something new. Some of the new skills can be treated as a way to balance out few of the currently must-have skills in the game like Vantage, Quick Riposte and many more. These new skills might work well with some of the builds of the current units we have but it is best hold onto them first, if you are not a whale, until the banner ends to know if we can get a lower rarity version of the unit to use as a Skill Inheritance fodder.

Alm: Hero of Prophecy

 Equipped with Falchion
Windsweep stops activation of some skills
 Windsweep is a double-edged sword
 Mediocre SPD

Alm is equipped with Windsweep that prevents his target from retaliating from his attacks if his SPD ≥ 1 compared to the opponent’s but in return, he can’t follow up his attack when he initates the combat. This suppresses skills and prevent them from being used to protect themselves from the attack like Counter, Close Counter, Vantage, Quick Riposte, Breakers, etc as long as the target is not a tome, staff or stone user. Alm can use this skill in different ways. One of which is to poke a target to bring it out of a skill’s activation range, e.g. Alm can attack head first a Hector and remove him from Armad’s HP range. Another use of this skill is for a safe clean up on an enemy with low HP, e.g. a Takumi with Vantage on critical HP won’t be counter-attacking first but instead die. Windsweep will work well with units how has heavy ATK and high SPD which is Alm lacks. This is fixable, he can be inherited with Darting Blow which gives him +6 SPD on his initiates or Fury or Life and Death but this will depend on Alm’s role on your team.

I rolled Alm in this banner and use him as my clean up unit. Here is my build for him:

Faye: Devoted Heart

 Firesweep bow
 Slow SPD

Faye owns a new bow that can be inherited by other bow users. This bow is Firesweep Bow. This bow, like every other bow, is effective against flying units but what makes it unique is that is prevents the person equipped with this bow and it’s target from making any form retaliation. To make things clear, here are some example situations:

Unit A and B is has the same range.
1) Unit A is equipped with Firesweep bow and is initiating an attack to Unit B. Units B can counterattack. Unit A can follow up it’s initial attack.
2) Unit A is equipped with Firesweep bow and is getting attack by Unit B. Unit A can’t counter attack. Unit N can follow up it’s initial attack.

Like Windsweep, this can be used in different ways and is good in some situation except that Firesweep bow doesn’t have the restriction to making a follow up to an attack as long as the user’s SPD is enough for it. This is the problem with Faye, she has a natural SPD of 21/25/28 which means even with Darting Blow, the highest SPD she can reach is 34 without any help. She would be needing support from her team made to make her a hard carry but she can pass her bow to someone else with better stats if she doesn’t fit your team.

Hit and Run is Drag Back v.2
➤ No different from other Pegasus Riders

There’s nothing special about Clair compared to the other Pegasus riders in the game except that she gets the a new skill, Hit and Run, which is a derived version of Drag Back without dragging his target back. The in-game description of this skill is confusing but if you see Clair’s movement in the Paralogue, you’ll understand how it works. This is an alternative skill to have for those builds with Drag Back which is commonly used to bring the unit back to safety, usually seen on glasscannon builds like Brave Axe Cherche. Reminder: This skill is only for melee units, so there will be no crazy builds like never ending stutter step build Leo.

Lukas: Sharp Soldier

 Very high DEF
 Can make a great wall
Fortress Defense gives +5 Def for -3 ATK

Lukas boasts high DEF for an infantry unit that can reach to 41 naturally on boon. They also gave him Fortress Def to increase his already concrete wall DEF. It gives him +5 DEF but will lowers his ATK by 3. This skill looks very unappealing than the other A skills we have like the regular Defense+, Fury, etc. but I’m pretty sure we are yet to discover how to fit this skill on some builds. He also have Obstruct which he can make a choke point by himself and be a meat shield for his teammates against charging melee units.
